PPF provides education, project guidance and funding for peace building projects in cooperation with Rotary clubs. PPF is the hub between State's Department of Revenue / Division of Motor Vehicles and Rotary Districts and clubs. PPF sets grant criteria to focus efforts on key areas of peace building unique to each state with sustainable and measurable results.
The simplest way to describe Rotary is by the Four Way Test of things Rotarians think, say, or do.
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all concerned?
3 Will it build good will and better friendships?
4 Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The specialty license plate project is sponsored by the Madison / Goodlettsville Rotary club of Tennessee. Net funds from the specialty plate plus direct donations are allocated each year to Rotary Districts and clubs for peace building grants guided by PPF criteria. Projects range from early childhood literacy to domestic violence prevention implemented by Rotarians and community volunteers.
PPF expects that the first edition plates will be free to the first one thousand subscribers. To do this PPF, is working with Rotary clubs, members, and businesses to obtain pledged donations Totaling $35,000 ($35 for the initial 1000 subscribers) As of December 2023. $11,100 has been pledged/donated.
The specialty plate program provides passive and recurring funds to promote peace. The initial $35,000 pay the fees for the first one thousand editions. Approximately, ninety percent of that is returned to PPF by the Division of Motor Vehicles as plates are picked up. $3.70 is the DMV cost of each first time plate. Then, each year after, 100% of the specialty plate fee is paid to PPF by the DMV when plates are renewed. Thus, the initial $35,000 has approximately a 90% return the first year, and 100% plus each year afterward as additional subscribers choose the plate.
Also, once the first editions are available, the plate becomes publicly available on the DMV site and at County Clerks. This expands the potential subscriber and therefor the funds to promote peace.
In short, the $35,000 primes a funding stream of recurring, passive, sustainable income stream with significant growth potential. Is also greatly simplifies collecting $35.00 from a thousand people and thus rewards those thousand for subscribing to launch the plate.
PPF is gathering sponsorship and donation funds to cover the $35.00 specialty plate fee for first one thousand editions when the plate is available. By signing up you are reserving your first edition plate(s).
If you have multiple vehicles, sequential numbering will be requested to DMV but are not guaranteed by the DMV.
Once DMV road tests the plate design, the will manufacture the plates and send them out to the County Clerk offices. The County Clerk will notify subscribers that their plate(s) are ready to be picked up.
When you pick up your plate there may be a small amount of tax due and depending on your regular vehicle registration renewal is due, standard registration fees.
Annually when vehicle registration is renewed, the $35.00 donation to promoting peace is added to the registration fees. 100% of the annual $35.00 renewal fee is paid to the Promote Peace Foundation which provides funds to Rotary peace building projects within the state.
The expected availability date is on or before November 2024. Personalized plates are available after the official launch of the first 1,000.
Send us a note using the Contact Us page if you're interested in sponsoring a plate in your state.
PPF will handle all legal and legislative applications, provide plate artwork that complies with DMV specifications, and cooperate the state Rotary leaders to introduce the program. PPF will collect payments from the state's Department of Revenue and provide the net grant amount along with state specific criteria each year.
The process takes approximately 3 years from start to availability of funds. During that time we work with the state sponsor to spread awareness, interest, and if required by the state, to sign up initial subscribers.
For example, to launch in Tennessee requires 1000 initial subscribers at $35 each. Thus $35,000 and 1000 names must be submitted to the State. We work in cooperation with Rotarians in each state to launch and return the benefit to the state Rotary organizations for implementation of peace building programs.
